    Back To Our Knees!

    October 29, 2022

When we read the book of Acts, it is alarmingly evident that the modern Church in North America today desperately lacks the genuine, supernatural power of the Holy Spirit that the Early Church thrived in.  In spite of all of our latest technology, modern contemporary music, and ear-tickling sermons, we, the Church, are failing miserably!  The darkness of this world is waxing darker while we, the ‘light of the world’ are ever fading.  Why?  Because we have replaced effectual, fervent prayer that avails much with ineffective programs, entertaining methods and fun events that avail very little in light of eternity.

A brand new luxury car with all of the latest options, fancy gimmicks, and big engine looks very impressive and powerful to the eyes, but without fuel in its tank, it’s going nowhere!  The Church may dazzle the people with flashy productions, shiny performers, and loud music that excites the flesh, but without the power of prayer in the pulpit and in the pew, we’re going nowhere, friends!

The Early Church was on the move from its very birth in the Upper Room, growing in grace, increasing in love, established in the word, and advancing like a mighty army in power and holiness.  Why?  Because the apostles gave themselves continually to prayer!  Effectual, fervent prayer was the driving force behind the Church as they went forward into battle from victory unto victory!  Read the following account of the Early Church from Acts 2 and see how today’s Church pales in comparison with their power-

“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers, and fear came upon every soul and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles…and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

Back to our knees, brethren!  Back to the closet!  Back to the prayer-meeting!  Back to the Early Church power!  God, give us a revival of prayer!
